Client:
Graphic Controls Corporation
Buffalo, NY
Graphic Controls is a subsidiary of Ludlow Technical
Products, a Tyco International Company (Revenues: $23
Billion, NYSE: TYC)
Industry:
Manufacturing
Graphic Controls Corporation is a specialty manufacturer
of over 100,000 products - including precision charts
and markers, thermal paper for POS applications, high-resolution
ink jet fluids, and gas sensors.
Their Needs:
Graphic Controls contracted with Infinity Solutions
to establish its online presence. Management realized
it was time to fully embrace the internet and e-Commerce
and provide its customers with the ability to conduct
business over the web.
With over 45,000 domestic customers in North America
and over 400 international customers in 50 countries,
Graphic Controls decided it needed a world-class web
site to represent and sell its many products and services.
Graphic controls opted to move online
in a "phased
approach" consisting of three distinct stages:
1. Establish a professional, high-quality web site
introducing the company and its products to the web.
2. Roll out a comprehensive online catalog providing
descriptions, specifications, pictures, and diagrams
of over 100,000 products, with full search and retrieve
capabilities.
3. E-Commerce enable the site, allowing domestic
and international customers to place secure orders
online. Additional e-Business functionalities such
as online customer service and payment processing
are also planned for the final stages of the project.
Graphic Controls also intends to have the site translated
into several languages to facilitate ordering from
its international customer base.
Infinity Solutions' e-Business
Solution:
Our development team worked in close collaboration
with Graphic Controls' marketing communications department
to develop a web site with the appropriate look and
feel. The site had to be consistent with the brand-image
already established by Graphic Controls' existing
marketing efforts and materials.
Infinity Solutions' graphic designers
developed a web-presence, which presented Graphic Controls'
corporate identity and product lines in a format that
was visually compelling and attractive, while adhering
to the principles of intuitive navigability and user-focused
functionality.
Interactivity, e-Commerce, and e-Business functionality
will be added to the site during phases two and three,
which are scheduled for launch in the 4th quarter of
2001.
Business Results:
The final result of phase one has been launched. Graphic
Controls believes its investment in the internet
will yield significant benefits in terms of marketing
reach, sales, and customer service and satisfaction.
The site will immediately give Graphic Controls access
to a truly global market for its products, since
any company, anywhere in the world, will be able
to find and buy their products on the internet.
Sales will be positively impacted once customers are
able to buy online. Customer service and satisfaction
will rise, due the fact that customers will be able
to get support and answers to questions directly from
the site, without delay. Graphic Controls' costs of
providing sales assistance and customer support will
drop as more and more of these functions are automated
by the interactive web site.
All this adds up to an internet investment which will
increase sales, customer satisfaction, and profits.
The site can be viewed at www.graphiccontrols.com.
